Thoughts from our Students

We have the most amazing people who come to our studio to share in the practice of yoga. From time to time our students share their thoughts with us. Below you will find some of their beautiful words.

As a high school student, I find myself very stressed over exams, projects, and afterschool clubs. I started attending classes at SAY over the summer, and ever since I have been addicted. Yoga has been my outlet for all the stress that I accumulate throughout the week.

What makes SAY special is Wendy and Lamont. They get to know every student, and they are such warm and loving people. They stress that you focus on doing what feels comfortable for your body, and that there is no judgment. No matter what your fitness level, you can do yoga because it is such an individual activity and you go where you feel comfortable. I am very thankful that I decided to do yoga with Wendy and Lamont because I feel blessed every time I go to the mat.

I just love practicing yoga at Simple Abundance Yoga. Wendy and Lamont have created the most inviting, peaceful, and loving space one can imagine. From the moment I open the door to the studio and step into the room I already feel more relaxed. This is the most authentic and vulnerable experience one could ever hope to find. I have benefitted from both Wendy’s and Lamont’s classes. Because of serious back problems I initially attended Wendy’s therapeutic classes at their prior studio. With the help of yoga I have been able to avoid back surgery and no longer take pain medication.

I am now enjoying Lamont’s classes. They are relaxing and restorative. I really appreciate Lamont’s gentle, concerned approach. He begins by asking about problems that individual students may be having. He then addresses these issues in class. As we go into the various poses, he continually reminds us to listen to our bodies so that we can decide how deeply we should go into a pose, or if we should even go into that pose. There is no competition as each person is focused entirely on his/her own practice. Although I am unaware of other students during practice, I enjoy their fellowship before and after class. I always feel at peace as I leave the studio.

I've been going to Wendy's yoga classes for several years. I came to Yoga seeking relief from my IBS. I began practicing yoga at SAY and not only did I find relief for my suffering, I entered a whole new world of relaxation and meditation that I could not believe possible for a woman in her 50's who's career and family have taken up most of her life, leaving little time for herself. After my first class of Gentle Flow Yoga I was hooked. I never knew I could find such calm, relaxation and solace.
