Have you always wanted to try yoga, but been intimidated by what you see on
magazine covers? Relax and join us for our monthly Introduction to Yoga
workshops. Held once a month, on a Sunday afternoon, these two hour workshops
give new students an opportunity to ask questions and learn the basics needed
to begin a regular yoga practice. Once you have had this class, you will feel
more confident and comfortable going to classes and beginning a home practice.
You will learn how to modify poses to fit your own individual needs.
This workshop is limited to six people. Feel free to get a group of friends
together to take the workshop. Just be sure to register by the deadline, so you
can reserve your spot. The cost for this workshop is $25. If you find that you
want to begin a regular yoga practice, you may purchase a series of classes the
day of the workshop at a 10% discount.
Please check the website calendar to see the deadline and date of each month’s
workshop to find one that fits your schedule.

Yin Yang Yoga is a combination of passive and active asanas (postures). We
begin with Yin poses which release tension in the connective tissues or fascia
of the body. A long-held passive pose practiced while the muscles are not yet
warm allows the energy to reach the deeper connective tissues of the joints,
allowing us to be more flexible for the active Yang practice. Focus is on the
breath (pranayama) and releasing into the poses. The prana (or life force)
stimulates and tones the joints' deep connective tissues, increasing the supply
of fluids to them, making them less dense and enabling them to stretch
appropriately.
The Yang practice is more physical and will incorporate Vinyasa Flow with
Taoist Yoga sequences to bring an overall balance to body, mind, and spirit.
Releasing into the Yin practice will allow students to become more aware and
accepting in their Yang practice, allowing the energy to flow on a much deeper
level.
This class is most suitable for those who have a regular yoga practice or have
practiced for 6 weeks or more.

Each week we will focus on a different area of the body, releasing stress and
tension, while building strength and stamina. This class is appropriate for all

pose to determine where it is most beneficial.

In Sanskrit, sukha means ease, peace, and inner joy. It is a sense of lightness
and joy, a sense of effortlessness and ease. In Sukha Yoga, we will move slowly
and mindfully, allowing the full connection of movement and breath to take us
to a place of ease and lightness.
A restorative form of yoga, we will use many props to make the body fully
comfortable in each pose. Hands-on adjustments will be made only to help relax
and release the body’s tension. There will be more focus on Pranayama, the
energy of the breath.
The literal meaning of sukha means “good space”. Allow yourself to find the
quiet, joyful place within you. Your own good space.

Qigong awakens deep flows of life current within the various energetic systems
of the body with gentle and graceful movements aligned with intentional breath.
Class begins with Qi gong for cleansing and detoxification of the major and
extraordinary meridians, this creates a smooth and harmonious flow in the qi
and allows for beginning into deeper levels of Qi cultivation. Through the use
of the voice we create special healing sounds to infuse cosmic energy into the
various organs of the body, bringing about a deep sense of inner balance and
vitality.
We then move into raising consciousness levels with a special form of Qigong
for opening the shen qi(spirit) and storing this high level of energy within
the body. These movements draw out the inner beauty of the participants as the
life energies begin to flow more strongly as well as centering the awareness
into the body with a renewed sense of wellness and peace. Class ends with a
closing Qigong meditation.
